After a negative public situation emerged, team owners for the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Teams required crisis media training for their men’s and women’s teams, 24 cyclists in all. Sunshine Media Network had previously done media training for the professional athletes and had a trusted rapport with them, an understanding of the intricacies of professional cycling, and high-level corporate-sponsorship expectations.

Five days after the news coverage, Sunshine Media Network developed and led a two-hour training session, which helped prepare each individual athlete, resolved some uncertainty surrounding the situation in the news, and ensured team sponsors the possibility for a best-case scenario outcome should the issue arise in media coverage at the next sporting event.
