As Director of Workplace Giving at the Arts & Science Council (ASC), Shannon was able to inspire thousands of Charlotte employees to support, hire, and engage with local talent, venues, and experiences provided by Charlotte’s artists. In this role, Shannon led a team responsible for more than 140 workplace giving campaigns, raising more than $3.6 million for the ASC Annual Fundraising Campaign.

Shannon also worked for noted investment-management company The Vanguard Group as a Project Administrator on Vanguard’s Flagship Select Services team. She managed various projects focused on doing business with ease and supported staff directly servicing high-net-worth investors.

Also during her time at Vanguard, Shannon served on the HR Talent Acquisition Team–College/Diversity Recruiting, Diversity Action Committee for NC office, and helped with the launch of the Vanguard Black Professionals Network (VBPN). One of her greatest accomplishments at Vanguard includes founding and leading Vanguard’s young leaders group called SYNC – Support Your Neighborhood and Community. She offered guidance and insights to Vanguard leaders on how to strengthen their corporate social responsibility strategy and made several impactful community connections as she was also serving on the United Way of Central Carolinas Young Leaders Board.

Before moving back to her beloved hometown, Charlotte, NC, to join the Vanguard team, she was a Relationship Manager for United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. During her 7-year career with United Way, she worked in the areas of corporate fundraising, community building, and marketing/communications.

Shannon earned her BA in Mass Communications/Public Relations at Clark Atlanta University. She also holds a Master of Science Degree in Nonprofit Management from Eastern University in St. Davids, PA.
